FMI's manufacturing facility has been a leading solutions provider of high temperature materials and composites for more than 50 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA. The focus in Maine is on multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) that enable high-temperature components such as: thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips as well as rocket motor throats and nozzles.
Our materials are being used on ground-breaking space initiatives such as the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and the heat shield for NASA's Mars 2020 mission, important missile programs, airfoils in commercial and military jet engines, and as lightweight armor for U.S. military ground vehicles.
Your role: FMI is seeking an energetic and motivated Production Planner to join their Supply Chain Team. You will be responsible for supporting production planning, scheduling processes, material inventory management, ERP system administration, and work order generation to meet and exceed our customers' and clients' expectations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assess demand forecasts and analyze production capacity utilization. Identify constraints and possible corrective actions
- Develop forecasts, schedules, and tracks performance of internal production groups
- Develop and provide reports on production output and schedule compliance
- Interface with production, engineering, and quality to support schedule execution and on time delivery of customer orders
- Maintain production route database to include processing and queue times
- Manage raw material inventory (establish inventory levels, incoming receipt, inventory release to production, and auditing). Interface with accounting and quality on government product inventory
- Coordinate and expedite the placement of purchase orders and/or delivery of material and movement of critical material
- Generate work orders to production (generate within system and issue hard copy to production)
- Define and utilize metrics that facilitate continuous improvements to planning processes and business results
- Support the Continuous Improvement of processes (Lean) by identifying and help implement actions that support reduced cost, reduced lead time, and improved On Time Delivery
- Ensure compliance knowledgeable of, and comply with all company policies, practices, and standards
- Ensure compliance with all Environmental Health and Safety regulations, policies and procedures
What we need from you:
- 4 Year College Degree or equivalent experience in related field
- 1+ year material planning or supply chain experience
- Strong understanding of manufacturing supply chain systems and shop floor control
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Production Planning/ERP systems
- Lean Manufacturing skills desired
- Experience working in strong quality management system
- Certified in Production and Inventory Management (preferred)
