Your role: FMI's Rhode Island Facility is seeking an Operator to work in our growing Woonsocket, RI location. As the Operator, you will support multiple aspects of our composite manufacturing operation including winding, creeling, loom draw and weaving loom operation. You'll be participating in projects developing process improvement methods, solutions required to enhance program quality, cost and scheduling. Being the Operator also means you have the opportunity to handle other duties as assigned and may be required to cross train to additional work centers and skill sets.

As the Materials Lab Manager, you will build out a specialized laboratory suite designed to evaluate and develop materials destined for extreme environments. Being the Materials Lab Manager means you will be the leader of a world-class elevated temperature characterization lab, responsible for owning state-of-the-art instrumentation and establishing the standard operating procedures that define our research excellence. You will be the "source of truth" for how characterization is performed safely and accurately. Depending on experience as a Materials Lab Manager, you may be responsible for the full lifecycle of characterization—from operation of the equipment and sample preparation to expert data analysis and interpretation.

As the R&T Engineer, you will support and lead the development, prototyping, and processing of novel carbon and ceramic composite materials and structures in coordination with materials engineers, process engineers, project managers, machinists, manufacturing and quality. Tasks could include process development, tooling innovation, structural prototyping, process automation and test plan definition and execution.  You will also handle activities that will encompass the full development cycle, from fundamental research to process development to prototype manufacture and test to production support. The R&T Engineer also applies sound scientific reasoning and fundamentals when conducting experiments and research activities to advance the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) of the material systems. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Works with team members to develop manufacturing methods for high temperature thermal protection material systems
• Assists materials, process, manufacturing, and quality engineers to solve processing and procedural issues, and create component fixtures and tooling solutions 
• Develops, implements, and sustains policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed 
• Adhere to good manufacturing procedures and document all activity for component traceability 
• Participate and lead design review documentation creation 
• Write technical reports and give technical updates

Your role: FMI is seeking a Machining Technician to play a pivotal role in our R&T department, developing machining operations, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards, and helping build robust processes for machining. As a Machining Technician, you will work primarily with carbon fiber composites and some basic process with metals, performing a variety of duties relating to component and material manufacturing including, but not limited to, CNC programming/operation, metrology programming/operation, cutting tool design, CNC/CMM fixture design, process/machine trouble shooting, etc. You will also work from schematics, routes, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Being in the Machining Technician means you will operate related equipment in low volume production scenarios; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format(s), perform calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as necessary.  The Machining Technician provides design for manufacturing input and helps facilitate first article type process reviews.
