FMI's manufacturing facility has been a leading solutions provider of high temperature materials and composites for more than 50 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA. The focus in Maine is on multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) that enable high-temperature components such as: thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips as well as rocket motor throats and nozzles.
Our materials are being used on ground-breaking space initiatives such as the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and the heat shield for NASA's Mars 2020 mission, important missile programs, airfoils in commercial and military jet engines, and as lightweight armor for U.S. military ground vehicles.
Your role: FMI is seeking a Logistics and Inventory Coordinator! This role will be responsible for managing assigned inventories through routine physical counts, requisitioning replenishments, and seeking alternative sources and materials when necessary. You will also organize and lead staff in conducting periodic inventory counts, adjust quantities and locations, and record and report discrepancies to management. Being the Logistics and Inventory Coordinator also gives you the opportunity to collaborate with other supported departments, maintaining communications and monitoring supply usage.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage inventory and filing systems, including inventory cycle counts
- Assess and improve flows of supplies through the organization
- Work with Production Planning to identify inventory levels and place orders as necessary
- Ensure all documentation related to inventory flow is complete, accurate, and filed
- Validate and process work order scans, labor tracking, and material tracking through ERP systems
- Work with Finance/Supply Chain supervisor to identify excess and obsolescence material, scrap disposition, and material transfer availability
- Work with Quality to provide necessary inventory levels and scrap values while maintaining proper disposition procedures
- Coordinate and expedite the delivery of material and movement of critical material
- Define and utilize metrics that facilitate continuous improvements to planning processes and business results
What we need from you:
- 2 Year College Degree or equivalent experience in related field (Supply Chain, Business Administration, or similar)
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Certified in Production and Inventory Management
- Proficiency in Production Planning/ERP systems
- Lean Manufacturing skills
