FMI's manufacturing facility has been a leading solutions provider of high temperature materials and composites for more than 50 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA. The focus in Maine is on multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) that enable high-temperature components such as: thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips as well as rocket motor throats and nozzles. 

Our materials are being used on ground-breaking space initiatives such as the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and the heat shield for NASA's Mars 2020 mission, important missile programs, airfoils in commercial and military jet engines, and as lightweight armor for U.S. military ground vehicles. 


Your role: FMI is seeking a multi-tasking Production Maintenance Technician. As the Production Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance through testing, inspecting, servicing, and repairing equipment & tools on a routine schedule. The Production Maintenance Technician will be responsible for addressing and repairing daily maintenance equipment breakdowns.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and address daily maintenance issues as scheduled
  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance according to operational specifications and tolerances and scheduled shutdowns
  • Gain understanding of processes; assist in the operation of process equipment, hydraulics, graph coils, high pressure vessels etc.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and test, inspect, service, repair, adjust/overall/maintain equipment and tools on set schedules
  • Repair, rework, & calibrate hydraulic & pneumatic assemblies & systems to meet operational specifications & tolerances
  • Respond to building emergencies; work with production operators
  • Emphasis on working safely and ensuring equipment and buildings are safe
  • Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide Lean improvement initiatives
  • Participate in daily maintenance crossover meetings to prioritize and assign work
  • Must be capable of following all safety practices for handling materials and operating processes

What we need from you:

  • High level of demonstrated mechanical experience and aptitude required
  • 2+ years relevant experience
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine sequences of assembly
  • Experience using hand and power tools, fixtures and/or templates
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, as well as work on ladders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Motivated, responsible, reliable, self-starter
  • Works well individually or as member of a team
  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • General technical understanding is required
